On December 22, 2014, UniAction brought smiles and warmth to 145 disadvantaged children by organizing a surprise Christmas stocking handout in partnership with key community organizations in Montréal. The initiative was part of UniAction’s ongoing mission to foster social inclusion and compassion through meaningful acts of solidarity, especially during the holiday season—a time that can be difficult for families facing hardship.
The stockings, filled with toys, treats, and essential winter items, were distributed quietly and thoughtfully to children connected to three trusted local partners: Mission Bon Accueil (Welcome Hall Mission), the Centre communautaire Mountain Sights, and the Fondation du Centre jeunesse de Montréal. Each organization serves vulnerable youth and families, offering food security programs, shelter, support services, and educational initiatives throughout the year.
Thi Be Nguyen, President of UniAction, shared her reflections on the event:
"Every child deserves to feel valued and celebrated, especially during the holidays. This small gesture is part of UniAction’s broader commitment to social issues—building empathy and community ties through kindness, shared experiences, and giving back."
She added:
"These stockings are not just gifts—they are symbols of hope and belonging. We want every child to know they matter, and that their community stands behind them."
For many of the children, the Christmas stockings were an unexpected and joyful surprise, reminding them that they are not alone and that their community cares.
This initiative reflects UniAction’s broader mission: to support marginalized communities, promote social cohesion, and use cultural action as a tool for inclusion and connection.
By partnering with local organizations that are deeply embedded in the community, UniAction ensures that its efforts reach those who need it most.
As the organization continues to grow, initiatives like this holiday handout serve as a reminder that meaningful impact often starts with simple acts of kindness—shared smiles, small gifts, and the spirit of togetherness.
