UniAction is proud to announce that its President and Founder, Thi Be Nguyen, appeared as a witness before the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology in support of Bill S-215, an Act to recognize the month of November as the Month of Immigration to Canada.
During her testimony, Ms. Nguyen highlighted the vital role immigration plays in shaping Canada’s identity, strengthening its social fabric, and contributing to economic development across generations. She emphasized the importance of recognizing not only newcomers, but also the stories of families across multiple generations, including those of earlier ancestors whose contributions have helped build the Canada we know today.
“Recognizing November as the Month of Immigration to Canada is an opportunity to celebrate the journeys, resilience, and contributions of immigrants past and present, while inspiring future generations,” said Ms. Nguyen.
Ms. Nguyen’s testimony also drew on the work of UniAction, including its third documentary, Generations: Stories of Canadian Families, and its broader cultural diplomacy initiatives, which aim to amplify diverse voices and foster dialogue across communities in Canada and internationally.
UniAction extends its sincere appreciation to the Honorable Senator Amina Gerba for sponsoring Bill S-215, for her commitment to advancing inclusive policies that reflect the diversity of Canadian society.
