In a significant step toward promoting inclusive and accessible mental health and well-being, UniAction is proud to announce a new partnership with Val Coaching to co-develop and deliver the Wellness for Communities Program. This initiative is rooted in a shared vision of building stronger, healthier communities through trauma-informed, culturally respectful, and community-led wellness practices.
The program is designed to respond to the growing need for grassroots mental health support and emotional resilience across diverse populations—particularly in communities that have been underserved or marginalized by traditional systems of care. With a focus on empowerment, healing, and connection, the Wellness for Communities Program offers a range of in-person and online resources that meet people where they are.
A Holistic Approach to Community Wellness
At the heart of the program is a series of interactive workshops and coaching circles that integrate mindfulness, emotional literacy, self-care, and communication tools. Sessions are facilitated by trained wellness professionals and community leaders and are structured to be culturally inclusive, language-accessible, and responsive to participants’ lived experiences.
Key focus areas include:
Mental Health Awareness and Literacy Helping participants recognize signs of stress, anxiety, burnout, and trauma, while offering simple tools for regulation and self-support.
Stress Reduction and Resilience Building Teaching grounding exercises, breathwork, body-awareness, and practical daily practices for reducing overwhelm and re-centering.
Interpersonal Communication and Conflict Navigation Strengthening listening skills, emotional expression, and healthy boundary-setting in personal and community relationships.
Family and Intergenerational Well-Being Addressing generational dynamics and caregiving stress, while fostering compassion across different age groups and cultural expectations.
Belonging and ConnectionCreating space for participants to share, reflect, and connect through collective storytelling and peer support models.
The program is designed with a strong emphasis on accessibility and sustainability. Sessions are adapted to different cultural contexts, and are offered with sliding-scale pricing to ensure economic barriers don’t prevent participation. Pilot programs will first be launched in priority neighborhoods, with plans for expansion across urban, suburban, and rural communities.
Val Coaching’s Philosophy Meets UniAction’s Social Mandate
Val Coaching, led by certified coach and wellness advocate Val Dupré, brings to the initiative a deep background in trauma-informed practice, emotional healing, and community engagement. Known for its gentle yet empowering approach, Val Coaching offers practical tools that help individuals reconnect with their inner resources while also nurturing collective strength.
“Our well-being is deeply interwoven with our sense of belonging and safety in community,” says Val Dupré. “This program is about reminding people that they are not alone—that healing doesn’t have to happen in isolation.”
For UniAction, the program is a natural extension of its long-standing commitment to social justice, cultural diplomacy, and community-based impact. “Wellness is not a private matter—it’s a public good,” says a UniAction Founder, Thi Be Nguyen. “We believe in democratizing access to care by making wellness education and support embedded in community life.”
By supporting both individual transformation and systemic change, the partnership between UniAction and Val Coaching sets out to model a new way forward—one where wellness is not treated as a luxury, but as a shared right and a foundation for stronger, more compassionate communities.
Looking Ahead
The first phase of the Wellness for Communities Program will roll out in select areas in June and August 2026. As the program grows, UniAction and Val Coaching aim to nurture a broader culture of care—one that reflects the diversity, resilience, and wisdom of the communities it serves.
Together, they are building more than a program. They are cultivating a movement—where healing is collective, and wellness is woven into the everyday fabric of community life.
