Montreal, June 16, 2018 — Beneath a canopy of glowing lanterns and shared hope, UniAction’s Lantern Ball 3rd edition returned with warmth and purpose, this time marking a major milestone—the organization’s 5th anniversary. The evening also shone a spotlight on two distinguished honorees: Louis Vachon, former President and CEO of the National Bank of Canada, and his spouse Chantal Carrier, accomplished executive and devoted community advocate.

In a night rich with emotion and gratitude, the Lantern Ball celebrated five years of UniAction’s impact through cultural diplomacy, education, and humanitarian action. At the heart of this celebration were Mr. Vachon and Ms. Carrier, whose unwavering commitment to social causes perfectly embodies the spirit and mission of UniAction.

Held in the elegant Challenger Reception Hall, the evening gathered a vibrant network of cultural leaders, business executives, artists, and long-time supporters. It was both a celebration of UniAction’s journey and a renewed call for collective action.

“As we mark UniAction’s fifth year, we are filled with pride and gratitude for those who have walked alongside us,” said Thi Be Nguyen, Founder of UniAction. “Louis Vachon and Chantal Carrier represent the very best of civic leadership—rooted in empathy, generosity, and vision for a better world.”

The honorees were celebrated for their exceptional contributions: Mr. Vachon for his visionary leadership and support of the arts, youth, and innovation; Ms. Carrier for her tireless advocacy in education, social equity, and public health.

The 5th anniversary Lantern Ball was more than a celebration—it was a testament to five years of building bridges, fostering inclusion, and amplifying voices too often unheard. As lanterns lit the night sky, guests were reminded that while UniAction’s journey began with a single idea, its impact has grown through collective belief, shared purpose, and the strength of community.

The honorees received heartfelt tributes from guests and community members, celebrating their shared legacy of generosity, leadership, and civic engagement. Their example reminded all in attendance that meaningful change is made not only through professional success but through consistent acts of kindness and solidarity.

Adding to the special atmosphere of the evening were guest appearances and performances by renowned artists Michel Pagliaro, whose presence and talent brought warmth and joy to the celebration, uniting attendees through the universal language of music and art.

As lanterns floated in the night—each one carrying hope and remembrance—UniAction reaffirmed its mission: to connect, celebrate, and act for a better, more compassionate world.

UniAction extends heartfelt thanks to our honorary committee and generous sponsors, especially the National Bank of Canada, for their unwavering support and belief in our mission.
